Police are investigating to see if human remains found at a Norfolk nature reserve are that of a missing 70-year-old man.

The remains were found two weeks ago at Catfield Fen at Catfield, near Stalham.

Police said today that tests have so far proved inconclusive in proving if the remains are that of Malcolm Goodman who has been missing for eight months.

Mr Goodman was last seen on September 26 when he left the Hamilton House care home in Catfield.

The remains were found the night of June 23 and initial tests have proved inconclusive - leading to further tests.

Police spokesman Harry Mitchell said: 'Further extensive enquiries are being carried out. It is too early to link the discovery of the remains to that of the case of missing Malcolm Goodman.'

When he was last seen Mr Goodman was wearing blue flared trousers, a dirty high visibility jacket and a yellow anorak.

He is about 5ft 8in, slim with grey hair, a beard and blue eyes.

Mr Goodman had been known to go missing in the past but always returned 24 hours later.
