THE hunt is on for a talented local rabbit to play a key role in a French slapstick show in Great Yarmouth.

SeaChange Arts is on the lookout for the rabbit to take part in this year's Out There festival of Street Arts and Circus.

The festival, now the largest of its kind in the region, features a host of international acts over two days in the town's St George's Park.

One such act, Chamboule Toutheatre bring a slapstick show to Yarmouth from Amien in Northern France. The show entitled Un Cheveu sur la Soupe (A Hare on the Soup) features three human performers but the fourth cast member, a rabbit, will not make the cross-channel trip.

“Unfortunately regulations around the transport of animals, mean Chamboule's usual rabbit won't be able to make the journey from France,” explained Laurie Miller-Zutshi of SeaChange Arts.

“As a result, we're seeking a local rabbit who might be looking for their big break!”

The aspiring bunny does not need to speak French or to have any previous theatrical experience.

“The show isn't too demanding for the rabbit, explained Laurie, “but it will be required to sit still for around five minutes; move when prompted and be able to resist eating a cabbage! The rabbit also needs to remain calm as the human performers are very energetic and the show will be performed in front of an audience of hundreds of people.”

SeaChange would like any ambitious rabbits, or their owners, to contact them with a photo, a short description of the rabbit, and any talents. These should be emailed, in the first instance to Laurie, creativelearning@seachangearts.org.uk For further information, contact Laurie on 01493 846550.

The Out There festival is free and takes place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September. Further information is available at www.outtherefestival.com
