Suffolk Coastal & Waveney District Councils have sent out a clear message 'that nuisance noise will not be tolerated', after the equipment was seized following complaints about an illegal event which generated loud repetitive music.

Last month, the decision was made to dispose of the equipment and Environmental Protection officers have released images 'in a bid to deter people from holding raves in future'.

A spokesperson for the Councils said: 'We have been in discussions with Suffolk Police resulting in co-ordinated and streamlined procedures for dealing with these incidents.

'Nobody subsequently came forward to claim their property and Environmental Protection officers have disposed of the equipment, mostly through the Council's electronics recycling facilities.

'Under the provisions of the Noise Act 1996, we are entitled to reclaim the costs of an operation from those people responsible.

'We would like to send a clear message to anyone thinking of holding a rave in future that this will not be tolerated and we will endeavour to seize and destroy all equipment.'

The Councils have the power to serve abatement notices under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which enable the Environmental Protection team, with support from Suffolk Police, to take decisive action to end any illegal event causing a noise nuisance.
