And much like the popular ITV television programme, variety took centre stage once more as a group of talented children performed in Corton’s Got Talent 2018.

Pupils from the village’s primary school lined up as a range of fun acts – including singers, dancers, rollerskaters, air guitar, story teller and a signing performance – all impressed as the annual event was hailed another resounding success.

Benjamin Britten Music Academy hosted this year’s talent show on Saturday, June 16, with Corton Primary School headteacher Nicola Rowland, business manager Keri Cotton and teacher Michelle Ayers taking on the judging roles once more.

They were full of praise for all the children that took part, as 18 acts performed in front of hundreds of people at the high school in Blyford Road.

Proud parents and family members applauded the children’s efforts as the show – held in association with the Friends of Corton Primary School and sponsored by Totally Wicked School of Dance – was split into two sections.

The youngsters from key stage one performed in the first half and the key stage two children took to the stage after the interval. There were also two performances from the after school dance club, choreographed by Miss Nicola Spedding, and the school choir – coached by Mrs Annette Baxter – performed.

The winner of the key stage one section was Millie Cook, who used her skills learnt in class to perform a story entitled Whatever next? The winner of junior section was Abbie Mingay, with a signing performance of A thousand years by Christina Perri.

Organisers were praised for helping to make this “a really successful event” once more, with Benjamin Britten Music Academy thanked for allowing use of the theatre. Headteacher Nicola Rowland said: “It was another fantastic show that went absolutely brilliantly. We are extremely proud of all the children for being so brave and stepping out in front of so many people. We had a variety of acts this year and it is such an uplifting, inspirational event that makes everyone feel really happy. Thank you to the staff and Friends for their support.”
