THE shortlist for the third annual Pride in the Community Awards has been drawn up.

Five independent judges met on Friday with the unenviable task of picking three nominees per category, who have all been invited to the prestigious ceremony on Tuesday.

Each person will be able to bring family and friends to the event at Pleasurewood Hills, in Lowestoft, which includes a buffet and drinks reception by the lake, a preview of the park's summer show and the presentation of the prizes.

Molly Bennett, from Beccles, who runs the St Raphael Club with her husband Roger is in contention for the Community Hero award, alongside Maureen Saunders, chair of Beccles Lido, and Alison Evans of Wrentham, who gives her time to a range of activities and organisations.

I-Mag editor Jack Houson, from Worlingham, has been shortlisted as Inspirational Child/Young Person alongside Lowestoft girls JUMP volunteer Stacey Moore and fundraiser Lily Hales, who has sold a CD for charity.

Bryan Pipe from Beccles, Jill Eaton from Pakefield and Karen Ladd from Lowestoft, are the finalists for Where the Heart is for their selfless attitude towards others, while Jo and Malcolm Angus from Bungay, Richard and Dorothy Fisk from Reydon, and Beryl Hague from Lowestoft are all shortlisted for Kind Neighbour of the Year.

Stuart Kerr from St John's Housing Trust in Kirkley joins fellow nominees, George Ling of Rosedale Funeral Home in Bungay, and Julie Reynold from Westwood Avenue Surgery in Lowestoft, in the Employee of the Year category; and Helen Anderson of Denes High School in Lowestoft will face Paul Graveling from Loddon Junior School and Ed Davey from Woods Loke Primary School in the running for Teacher of the Year.

The Toy and Gift Emporium in Bungay, Flying Fifteens Tearoom on Lowestoft's seafront and Morrison's in Beccles are potential Businesses of the Year, while Ryan Holt of design agency CTRL Group in Corton is up for Entrepreneur of the Year alongside Jack Howson and Lydia Ward of Carlton Colville, who has raised a licence to bring back the donkeys to Lowestoft beach.

There will also be an award given to the Pride in the Community Champion, someone that judges think deserve the highest recognition possible for their kind attitude towards others and the place in which they live.

This will be presented by Zoiyar Cole, reigning Pride in the Community Champion.

The main awards will be given out by Yves Delhommeau, Pleasurewood Hills general manager.
