TODAY is the last chance to get your entries in if you want to be this year's Journal Carnival Queen.

You have got until 5pm to decide if you have got what it takes to represent the town and the newspaper over the coming

year.

Among the responsibilities include a leading spot in the August carnival, prominent place at this summer's air festival and a whole host of other duties across the whole of Waveney.

One girl will be chosen at the selection evening on Friday, June 27, at The Marina Theatre to become Lowestoft's new female ambassador and a further two girls as her attendants.

The evening, which will be compered by entrepreneur Mike Deal, will include entertainment from versatile singer Kerry Kennedy, as well as the opportunity to take away more than £3,000 in prizes, including a weekend break in France and £300 worth of designer clothes.

All you need to do is complete the form below and attach a covering letter answering the questions included on it.

Judges will shortlist 20 girls based on the answers to the questions and in the next week or so each will be photographed by professionals from Picture Studios, in London Road North, for inclusion in The Journal, the week before the competition.

Tracey Waterer and Karen Taylor from Clinique, at Boots, in Lowestoft, will give each girl a goodie bag full of products, as well as make them look a million dollars ready to go on stage.

Each participant is asked to bring an evening dress to wear and will be given a backstage dressing room.

Judges include Journal editor Russell Cook, theatre manager Martin Halliday and Matt Goddard from Picture Studios. Niki Conroy, the Journal's fashion columnist, Kellie Harwood, our beauty columnist, and outgoing carnival queen Emma Cooper will also be on the panel.

Tickets at £5 are on sale for the event at the Marina box office or telephone 01502 533200.

If you would like a chance to represent the newspaper and your town fill in the coupon now.
