A man who bombarded his ex partner with 100 unpleasant text messages and missed calls has been jailed for four-and-a-half months.

Nathan Strowger was feeling 'upset and frustrated' when he sent the messages, which were derogatory but not threatening, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Strowger, 24, whose address was given as care of Alma Road, Lowestoft, admitted harassment, assaulting a police officer, possession of cannabis, criminal damage and breach of two suspended sentences.

He was jailed for four months and two weeks by Recorder John Brooke-Smith who described the offences as 'extremely unpleasant.'

Lynne Shirley, prosecuting, said that on December 5 Strowger damaged a police cell by smearing faeces on the floor and walls.

On December 11 he had kicked a policeman on the leg and later the same month he was found in possession of a small amount of herbal cannabis during a strip search.

Miss Shirley said although the text messages sent to Strowger's ex partner were derogatory they weren't threatening.

Joe Bird, for Strowger, said his client was 'upset and frustrated' when he sent the text messages.
