Trevor Oldfield, 49, of Glebe Road East, Kessingland, near Lowestoft, was stopped by police during the early hours of April 7, after he was spotted driving erratically, said prosecutor Tess James.

He was breathalysed and gave a reading of 125mcg of alcohol in 100ml. The legal limit is 35.

Oldfield, a plasterer, pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was given a 28-day prison sentence, and banned from driving for 32 months, when he before at Lowestoft magistrates.

He received a further 28-day sentence, to run consecutively, after he admitted failing to comply with a domestic violence course imposed after he pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour at an earlier appearance.

Lucy Ashmore said her client accepted he had been a “complete fool”. She added that he was dyslexic and had become confused about the nature of the course.
