Young bookworms from Kessingland received medals and certificates for participating in this year's summer reading challenge.

The theme this year was 'record breakers', with each child required to read more than six books in six weeks.

The Kessingland presentation was given by Michael Ladd, district and county councillor for the area.

Mr Ladd said: 'The reading challenge is a great for young people and children to learn in a fun way.

'Congratulations to all those who took part and to the helpers for all that you do, it takes a great effort.'

Catherine Julings, 28, whose daughter Imogen completed the challenge, said: 'Imogen regularly attends groups at the library and they are very beneficial. She enjoys all the events and the volunteers are very helpful.'

Sandra Knights, Kessingland library manager, said: 'Any ages were allowed to participate - we even had mothers reading to toddlers in our groups. And we would like to see more children visiting our library, as reading is magical.'
