Kessingland: Man taken to hospital

A MAN holidaying in Kessingland had to be flown to hospital yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after he suffered heart problems.

The Lowestoft and Southwold coastguard rescue teams were called out to Kessingland beach at 3.

A MAN holidaying in Kessingland had to be flown to hospital yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after he suffered heart problems.

The Lowestoft and Southwold coastguard rescue teams were called out to Kessingland beach at 3.45pm to assist the East of England Ambulance and the Air Ambulance with the rescue of the 61-year-old man.

Andrew Sutherland, deputy station officer for Lowestoft & Southwold coastguard rescue teams, said: “The man was on holiday in the area and was staying at the Kessingland Park Resort when he suffered suspected heart trouble on Kessingland beach.”

Staff from the holiday resort were with the man when the paramedics arrived, and after being assessed at the scene he was stretchered to the waiting helicopter - Anglia One Air Ambulance - before being flown to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
