The June meeting of Kessingland WI heard a report of the first summer coffee morning held at the home of Doreen Salmon; an enjoyable gathering that helped boost funds and there are more to follow. There will be a visit to Priory Maze Gardens later this month and good weather is hoped for. A group of nine people went to Whitlingham Country Park and enjoyed a walk; this month the walkers are going to Carlton Marshes. The darts group are resting for the summer season while the reading group have Notes from Walnut Tree Farm by Roger Daekin for this month. The book is set in the Eye area so should be an interesting read. The speaker was Barbara Shaw who demonstrated simple gift boxes to be personalised for the recipient. She accompanied her clear instructions with humorous anecdotes. The evening flew by and everyone managed to take home a box and learned several ways to fold napkins for the next dinner party. Barbara judged the competition for a decorative box and awarded Margaret Brooke the first prize and Margaret Parker the winner in the bloom of the month exhibition. The July meeting has Patrick Thompson talking about Catering the Royal Way.
