There were 40 members present at the July meeting. It was reported that the trip to Priory Maze Gardens in late June had been an enjoyable day out. The August meeting will be a ploughman's supper. The walking group had an interesting walk in the Carlton Marshes area. They saw a variety of butterflies and the cinnabar moth, a rare daytime flier. Members enjoyed a picnic en route and plan to take the Sailor's Path in the Snape area for their walk in July. The speaker for the evening was Patrick Thompson. He told us about his work as head of a department in the Queen's household and some of his encounters with Her Majesty. The competition for a menu for a royal banquet was won by Karelyn Smithson and Pauline Shipley won the bloom of the month exhibition. The September meeting is on September 10 at 7.30pm in the Kessingland Working Men's Club with a talk about soaps and washing powders.
