At the September meeting members were able to hear about some enjoyable summer events. In July several members attended Suffolk East Federation 90th birthday celebration at Orwell Park School and a good time was had by all. In August the monthly get together took the form of a ploughman's supper, and enjoyable evening for everyone. There were reports of two excursions from the walking group, in July they did the Sailors Walk at Snape and in August they walked from Ringsfield Hall to the church. In September the group are walking in the morning to Pakefield Lighthouse. This will be a shorter walk as the group are having an evening of ten pin bowling for the members social evening for the month later that day. The speaker for the evening was Jon Read who is a collector of many things. He told about the history of soap from the recipes found in the Egyptian tombs to the 20th century. With items from his collection, facts and lively anecdotes he made the subject very interesting. Margaret Brooke won the flower exhibition and Pauline Shipley created a name and slogan for Bubbles soap powder to win the competition. The next meeting is on October 8 and David Strachan from Marybelle Dairies will be welcomed as the speaker.
