Organisers of the award-winning Latitude music festival say they have improved their traffic plans for this year – doing even more to ease congestion around and through villages en route.

The festival takes place this weekend – Friday through to Sunday – at Henham Park.

More than 30,000 people will attend the event to enjoy music – including The Killers, Solange, alt-J, The Charlatans, Rag 'n' Bone Man – plus comedy, dance, and theatre and more at the mega family-friendly arts event.

Organisers Festival Republic have taken major steps in recent years as the festival has grown to try to manage the enormous volume of traffic heading up the A12 and on cross country routes to the venue.

A spokesman said further improvements had been made this year with a renewed plan.

He said: 'This plan aims to increase safety, ease congestion around and through local villages, minimise disruption and ensure the safety of residents and Latitude Festival attendees.

'We will continue to use three different routes to the site to ensure traffic is balanced more appropriately in the wider area and on approach to the festival. This may mean that journeys appear longer when checked on satellite navigation, but it will be quicker and the traffic flow in the vicinity of the site should work well.

'The Offsite Traffic co-ordinator will continue to have a team of spotters at key locations and a motorbike response working to him monitoring the routes. 'He will liaise with police, highways and public transport operators live and will also do regular updates via media/social media.

'Enhancements have been made noticeably to our Egress Plan, with temporary traffic regulation orders in place to enforce no left turn signage where necessary and reduce speed for the safety of all road users.'

Festival Republic said signage has been reviewed to ensure more clarity and festival-goers are strongly advised to work within the larger plan and follow the signage. The routes will be advertised in advance.

There will be shuttle bus services to and from the festival from Diss, as well as local stations. People attending are encouraged to utilise this service, Big Green Coach or the Lift Share scheme to reduce the number of vehicles travelling to the festival.
