WE have a new relief road which takes the traffic from the south swiftly towards the town relieving all the congestion in Kirkley.

We also have an improved system for traffic travelling from the north. Unfortunately there is a bottleneck between the two … the bridge.

Instead of all the talk of another relief road or a third crossing is it not possible to widen the bridge to four lanes?

There would appear to be enough land either side to accommodate this. Maybe the road alignment would have to be changed; a small price to pay after all the expense in getting this far with the project.

This would improve the traffic flow.

This road is after all the A12; the main route north from London to the East Anglian coast.

This would also give time any for large scale plans for traffic improvement to be fully evaluated.

Let's try something feasible, not something that is pie in the sky.
