I AM AN ardent fan of Lowestoft Town Football Club and have been for well over half a century and feel it is necessary to respond to the comments made by M Broom (May 2).

I AM AN ardent fan of Lowestoft Town Football Club and have been for well over half a century and feel it is necessary to respond to the comments made by M Broom (May 2).

What the writer has seen is what the journalists and reporters have chosen to tell us about and it is true that the players and managers did accept the invitation to have a meal at the Beefeater.

Regarding the suits, would the writer not wish to have a team representing the town arrive smartly attired rather than in a miscellaneous collection of jeans and hoodies?

What has not been acknowledged is the fact that since reaching the final at Wembley a number of fixtures have been fulfilled and also regular training sessions held. The fixtures have been covered by The Journal but training sessions do not have the appeal to the readers unless provided by Norwich City, as was the case before the semi-final victory.

My association with the players tells me that they have the desire to win as has been demonstrated in getting to the final.

They are not, however, full time professionals so who could deny them the pleasure of appearing at the ultimate football stadium, Wembley.

In conclusion I would say to M Broom, be assured that preparing to play and hopefully win, has been uppermost in the minds of the managers, Micky Chapman and Ady Gallagher since about 4.55pm on the afternoon of the second leg of the semi-final at Whitley Bay.
