Letter of the week

WHERE, oh where, do these people get their ideas from, and how can anybody believe that an authority that is responsible for the county that joins Lincolnshire is going to be the slightest bit interested in a third crossing at Lowestoft?

Since these latest ludicrous proposals suggesting that Lowestoft be administered by Norfolk County Council, I've heard the point put forward that maybe Norfolk would bring more influence to the table in the building of "the much lamented third crossing".

When, prey, did that person last drive along the A47 Acle Straight?

The new Outer Harbour is being constructed with no improvement whatsoever to the road system in Yarmouth or out of it, so why would they bother about the problems in Lowestoft?

If Suffolk County Council is no longer to be associated with Lowestoft, what is going to happen to the new Waveney Campus? Wasn't that going to be offices for Suffolk and Waveney Councils? I doubt if CEFAS will want to build it for themselves.

Should, however, the campus be cancelled, then the original designated site for the crossing west of Nexen Fork Trucks to Rotterdam Road roundabout could be used. At least Lings Honda would then be facing the main traffic flow instead of away from it.

Let's face it, Lowestoft has never been the same since the formation of Waveney District Council. Too much emphasis has been been put into the Waveney area away from the town apart from, of course, the constant replacement of perfectly good paving.

Bring back the Borough of Lowestoft.
