I HAVE recently been attending the physio department at Lowestoft Hospital.

Whilst waiting for my treatment my attention has been drawn to their notice board and one item in particular.

It states that during October 26 people failed to turn up for their first appointment and 94 missed follow up dates. As a result 60 hours of therapy were wasted.

I find this truly shocking.

I do hope these people had legitimate reasons for their non-attendance.

In this day and age it is unusual not to have access to a telephone. If only they had made a call, many of these places could have been offered to other people desperate for treatment.

Perhaps the hospital should adopt the policy of dentists and charge for missed appointments.
