The atmosphere was something to be wondered at. I did wonder if I would ever have the chance to go and see another cup final or international at the new Wembley having enjoyed visits to the old stadium previously.

Although the Trawler Boys lost the game they surely gained many fans in Lowestoft as a result of their efforts both on and off the pitch.

The Journal's Wembley special edition tribute paper was well stocked with pictures and stories of the day.

And on Sunday I witnessed the troops in all their glory on top of the triumphant bus journey and walk through the town to their civic lunch. The flags and balloons in as much evidence as at Wembley the previous week.

Congratulations for getting there, well done one and all. Could we be like AFC Sudbury and make it to Wembley again?
