The committee of a social centre in Kessingland are celebrating the installation of the third defibrillator in the village.

The Kessingland Sports and Social Centre in Francis Road has become the latest location at which a defibrillator has been installed.

It was thanks to fundraising efforts of the centre's committee of volunteers and to the generosity of Waveney MP Peter Aldous and Suffolk County councillor Michael Ladd that made it possible.

Committee chairman Helen Sinfield said: 'I would like to thank Peter and Michael who between them have donated £800 towards the £1,200 cost of the defibrillator. The remainder has been raised by the committee who organised jumble and table-top sales.

'The device gives spoken instructions to ensure its safe use and it will not allow anyone to be shocked unless they really need it. I feel it will be a real asset both to the users of the centre and to our residents as a whole.'
