Lifeboats launched after receiving reports of a vulnerable woman in the water

Lifeboat crews from Lowestoft and Southwold were launched following reports of a person in the water.
Police received a call at 1.50pm today raising concerns about a vulnerable woman at Lowestoft seafront, with both the coastguard and lifeboat teams called into action.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s and from Norwich, was located safe and well by the coastguard crew at 3.55pm near the Claremont Pier.
It is not believed that the woman entered the water at any time, and crews were stood down shortly after she was found.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard Lowestoft and Southwold said: “At 2.30pm today, HM Coastguard received reports of a possible person in the water in difficulty at Lowestoft seafront.
“Lowestoft Coastguard Rescue Team and the Lowestoft RNLI lifeboat were sent to the scene, alongside Suffolk Police.
“A casualty was located safe and well by the Coastguard rescue team and placed in the safe care of the police on scene.”
