Local pond refurbished
THIRTY two members of the Salmon Postcard Study Group staying at Oulton Broad, have been visiting places in Lowestoft painted by the local artist A R Quinton 80 years ago.
THIRTY two members of the Salmon Postcard Study Group staying at Oulton Broad, have been visiting places in Lowestoft painted by the local artist A R Quinton 80 years ago.
In addition to the harbour and beach areas he painted scenes in the parks at The Denes, Sparrow's Nest and Kensington Gardens.
In December last year, one of our members, Glyn Powell, who was to lead our holiday, wrote to The Journal expressing his disappointment at the neglect of a pond crossed by a bridge in Kensington Gardens, a scene of great beauty when painted by the artist.
It is to the credit of the Waveney District Council recreation department that they took up the challenge to refurbish the pond area, making it as attractive as it was when the artist first painted it. Our member were very impressed
