ANOTHER blooming great competition… that was the response from organisers of the annual Lowestoft in Bloom competition, which again attracted a high standard of entries.

And with such a high calibre field of entrants it is now hoped that Lowestoft's entry into the regional Anglia in Bloom contest will reap the rewards of hours of hard work.

The Lowestoft in Bloom committee said they were very pleased with the response from locals to this year's competition, which led to a sparkling array of colour.

Committee member Gloria Honeywood said: “We were very happy with all the people who took part in Lowestoft in Bloom and everyone done so well. The schools this year really had improved in number as well as content and special congratulations to them.

“Allotments were another group that did so well this year, and they certainly were very varied and quite an eye opener. In fact everyone who participated deserves to get recognition as it is such a positive thing for Lowestoft, making it a nicer place to be, to see the lovely baskets, pots and gardens makes it a nicer place to live,” she added.

One entrant that did particularly well was again Kimberley Road Post office - for the second year running - which collected three gold awards this year to go with the best container and best overall impression honours won last year in the commercial sector.

The committee is now hoping for good news in Anglia in Bloom Judges for that regional event were in Lowestoft recently to assess the town's entry.

And in October, the annual Lowestoft in Bloom presentation evenings will be held at the Town Hall on October 10 for the children and October 17 for the adults.
