A LOWESTOFT-based youth project is all set to expand its services thanks to a £93,000 National Lottery grant.

Signpost Gunton is to receive £93,499 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.

It plans to use the money to develop its street-based youth work project, DreamworX, helping young people in north Lowestoft.

DreamworX, a partnership between Signpost Gunton and St Andrew’s Church, Roman Hill, holds a regular drop-in centre that attracts more than 150 children aged from eight to 13 in the Gunton and Roman Hill areas who who do not use traditional youth clubs.

It aims to build up young people’s self-esteem and confidence.

DreamworX said the grant would boost the project’s work helping children and young people to build relationships, learn basic life skills and grow in self-confidence.

A spokesman said: “The project is non-stigmatising, aiming at the young people as individuals and based on need rather
than ethnic origin or other labels.”
