The annual meeting, held at the May meeting, was well supported. Avril and David Saunders are standing down from the committee this year but will continue their good work raising funds for the RSPB; David selling bird food at the meetings and both will continue with their work running the book stall for group members. The rest of the committee were voted back en bloc. The leader thanked the committee and all the volunteers for their hard work. The group enjoyed a lively and interesting presentation by Rob Macklin the RSPB Suffolk area manager about the RSPB vision for the Suffolk coast. Edwina Beaumont, who joined the committee nine and a half years ago and has been leader for the last seven and a half years, is standing down although she will continue to fundraise for the RSPB by continuing to give her audio/visual presentations. She was thanked for all the work that had been accomplished and was presented with a gardening voucher by the group secretary Pat Chilvers on behalf of all the members. Edwina said that she had really enjoyed being leader and would be back at the June meeting when she and Pat Chilvers will give one of their much praised presentations. The next meeting is at St Mark's Church Centre on Friday, June 5, everyone welcome, visitors 2.50.
