And members did just that, with the evening turning out to be one of the highlights of the club's calendar. Ten members brought mini-collections including postal history from Portugal and Germany, a fine collection of Quinton postcards, material from the 1990 Stamp World London exhibition, and postal strike items. There was much to enjoy including a fine collection of photographs of bomb-damaged streets of Lowestoft during the Second World War, along with ration books from the same period. Sitting alongside all this was a gas mask - or as Capt Mainwaring would say, 'a Respirator' - and the whole evening left members with pangs of nostalgia.
