BIRTHDAY: Three air cadet squadrons from Lowestoft, Beccles and Great Yarmouth met at St Margaret's Church in Lowestoft to celebrate the organisation's 75th anniversary.

The young people celebrated and shared some of the activities they can engage in in a short service with lively songs led by their Chaplain, the Reverend Michael Asquith, who is also Rector at St Margaret’s.

The Air Training Corps was established in 1940 for young people and today its members range from 12 to 20 years old.

Cadets have the opportunity to take part in many activities including flying and gliding and many have the opportunity to fly solo in a glider. Those flying in a two-seater plane have the chance to take the controls and fly the plane or perhaps do aerobatics in the sky.

The Lowestoft air cadets meet on a Monday and Friday evening, between 7.15pm and 9.45pm, behind the Territorial Army Centre in St Peter’s Street, Lowestoft.

Boys and girls in school year-eight or above who would like to join can call 01502 564696 during meeting hours.
