Calling all proud parents, is your little one the cutest kid in town?

Now is your chance to see your tot in the spotlight as the Lowestoft Journal’s Bonny Baby competition returns for 2020.

Our annual contest searches for the most photogenic youngsters in Lowestoft, Southwold and all of the villages in between.

And once again we have teamed up with portrait specialists Picture Studios in London Road North to offer some amazing prizes for our worthy winners.

With this year’s competition held later than usual as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Picture Studios’ managing director Matt Goddard has said the team have introduced a number of safety measures.

He said: “Unfortunately, we had to postpone the competition when it would usually be held in June, but the whole team is looking forward to bringing it back for 2020.

“We have taken a lot of extra measures to make sure everyone is as safe as possible, from cleaning between shoots, leaving extra space between shoots, trying to alternate viewing and sitting appointments to get as little cross over as possible.

“We have also been asking customers to wash their hands and use hand sanitiser, and wearing masks.”

The top tots in each category will receive their own special prizes, with winners receiving a 20in x 16in framed portrait.

Runners-up will receive a 10in x 8in framed portrait, while third places will receive a 8in x 6in framed portrait.

To enter this year’s competition, fill out the entry form in this week’s Lowestoft Journal and book your child in for a photo sitting at Picture Studios.

The form must be taken along to the appointment, which will be held from September 7 and can be booked by calling the studio on 01502 573 154.

The photograph sessions are free of charge and the competition is open to any child up to the age of five years old.

Appointments will be held from Monday, September 7.

If photo sessions are unable to be held this week due to developments with coronavirus, alternative dates will be arranged when safe to do so.

Once all photo sessions have been held, children will be divided into age categories, with all of the photos published in the Lowestoft Journal for our readers to cast their votes and crown the bonniest babies.

There is no obligation to buy any of the photographs, although those wishing to do so can purchase these from Picture Studios.
