On Monday, October 12 at Bloodmoor Hill Community Centre the first round of a two-part competition for the Gorleston Salver was held. The winners were Mrs L Purdom and Mr R Hasell with a score of 60.

On Monday, October 12 at Bloodmoor Hill Community Centre the first round of a two-part competition for the Gorleston Salver was held. The winners were Mrs L Purdom and Mr R Hasell with a score of 60.3 per cent. Second were Mr and Mrs T Yapp with 59.3 per cent, third were Mr P Whittley and Mr D Thompson and fourth Mr and Mrs P Howlett. On Thursday at St Mark's the club took part in the BGB Autumn Simultaneous Pairs competition. The winners were Mr D Thompson and Mr P Whittley with a score of 60.6 per cent. Second were Mrs J Cluer and Mr R Collis, third were Mr and Mrs P Howlett and fourth Miss S Bultitude and Mrs A Blouet. Paul Whittley and David Thompson are the leading Lowestoft pair overall, lying in 156th place from 2,000 pairs.
