A hard working duo have been honoured with surprise gifts to mark their long service at a care home.

Yogi Mattey, 56, of Yeovil Road, Lowestoft and Annette Wilkins, 49, of Hall Road, Oulton Broad, both started as support workers at the Kirkley Manor nursing home, in Kirkley Park Road, Lowestoft at the same time 20 years ago.

But on Wednesday, January 31 they were surprised with gifts to mark their achievement of reaching 20 years' service – with both agreeing that it is the teamwork and friendships developed with other staff that has kept them going.

Mrs Wilkins said: 'You have good days and bad days like in any job, but it's the relationships you build that makes it all worthwhile.'

In presenting flowers and other gifts, including vouchers, chocolates, champagne and flowers, Gary Foley, manager of the Kingsley Healthcare run home, said: 'I would like to say a big thank-you to both of you. You have not just worked here for 20 years, you have done a fantastic job for 20 years.'
