SHOW the Carnival Spirit!

That is the call from organisers of the Lowestoft Carnival parade who hope local people will turn out on Sunday to support those who have created colourful costumes and scenery on their floats.

There will be more than 30 entries to enjoy as the parade is led by Journal Carnival Queen Jade Searby and her attendants Aneliese Rix and Chloe Smithson, whose reign has been extended for another year.

Town mayor Nigel Dack will also be joining in the fun, starting at 3pm from Kirkley Park Road.

Organisers want everyone to have a good time.

But carnival chairman Pat Rayner stressed: “We have been strongly advised by the police that they will not tolerate water being used by parade participants or by spectators to cause a nuisance and this includes the use of large water pistols.”

Spectators, especially those who normally watch the parade in north Lowestoft, are advised that there is ample space to view the parade all along the route in London Road South, and to be aware that the crowds could be at their greatest towards the finishing point of the shortened parade.

'No waiting' cones will be positioned along both sides of London Road South for safety.

Collectors will be out in force for donations to Lowestoft Hospital.

And anyone interested in joining the parade - as a late entry or offering help as a steward - should contact Ms Rayner on 01502 563847.
