Lowestoft Town Council is hoping yesterday's festive market will be the first of many in years to come.
The special Christmas event took place yesterday in the Triangle market and featured stalls from local traders that attracted customers towards the historic end of town.
Even Father Christmas himself made an appearance to hand out gifts to children.
It is thought that markets in this part of Lowestoft date back as far as the 15th century, but this has not been the case for around 15 years.
This year's festivities were organised by Lowestoft Town Council as a statement of intent to resurrect a regular market there.
Councillor Dick Houghton said: 'We're very pleased with how things have gone and it's made us realise that this is the kind of thing people want.
'This year's event has given us experience of what we need to do as a town council for future years, and naturally the footfall will develop over time.'
