Thursday, April 23 was the last competition of the 2008-9 season. The film of the year competition invited guests for the evening were Derek and Judy Leak, Mary Burt, Christine Parsons, Paul Boyce and Arthur and Helen Todd.

Thursday, April 23 was the last competition of the 2008-9 season. The film of the year competition invited guests for the evening were Derek and Judy Leak, Mary Burt, Christine Parsons, Paul Boyce and Arthur and Helen Todd. After a few coming events were announced by the chairman Harold Whitewood and a newsreel produced by vice-chair Roger Bellham was shown on screen, it was time to show the entries for the competition which had been pre-judged by the Cromwell video camera club based at Great Cambourne near Cambridge with the results sent back to us in a sealed envelope. There were eight entries, Waveney Motorists Centre by Alan Ruff, The Curse by Ron Rushmere, Born Free by John Rushmere, The Orbis Energy Centre Open Day by Ron Rushmere, Christmas Crackers by Allen Pettitt, Littlecote Waters by Allan Ruff, The Crofton Sector by Jeff Riches and Wembley Shattered by Allen Pettitt. The refreshment break and raffle then followed with the raffle being organised by Gordon Mitchell, David and Frances Bucknole, the refreshments being served by Sheila Buckenham and Marion Whitewood. It was then time to announce the film of the year winner with the most points. The scores were presented by the competition officer and marked up by Jim Buckenham then The Crofton Sector by Jeff Riches was deemed the winner. Two video films were then shown, B Ware made by college students a well made film of a controverts nature, then to finish the evening A Winter Morning by John Rushmere. Next week the club members will meet at the Beaconsfield Club for the annual dinner and presentation of filmmaker and film of the year awards.
