On Thursday, April 15, it was a special evening at the club for members were competing in the Ken Renshaw family cup competition. The chairman Harold Whitewood opened the meeting with apologies from John Durrant, Austin Mobbs, Gorden Mitchell and Ron Rushmere. After announcing the up and coming events, Ken and Gwen were introduced who were to judge the competition. Ken had set up this competition when a member himself, some years ago to promote the heritage of the town so all films had to have a Lowestoft theme. With vice chair Roger Bellham as projectionist, seven films were entered - The Poppies Tea Rooms by Alan Ruff, The Wembley Dream by Dave Bucknole, The Orbis Energy Centre by John Rushmere, Remember Jack Rose by Marion Whitewood, Spitfire by Peter Keeble, Pakefield's First Fete by Marion Whitewood and Ness Point by John Rushmere. Marion Whitewood and Sheila Buckenham provided refreshments and the raffle was run by David and Frances Bucknole. Ken gave his comments on all films shown and his winning choice was Ness Point by John Rushmere. Gwen presented the cup to John.
