More than 50 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of £19,000 were recovered during a Lowestoft drug bust.

Two men from the town have been arrested and charged with Class A drug offences after police searched a flat in London Road South on Wednesday, April 4.

The pre-planned operation was the result of three months of intelligence gathering and preparation.

Along with the large quantity of Class A drugs, officers from the specialised Scorpion Drug Team recovered two large knives, mobile phones and various drug paraphernalia.

A white envelope containing around £3,000 was also found at the flat.

Imran Leo Kulasi and Lewis Lawrence were both arrested at the property on suspicion of money laundering and Class A drug offences and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Kulasi, 43, of London Road South, was subsequently charged with one count of supplying cocaine, one count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, one count of supplying diamorphine, one count of possession of diamorphine with intent to supply, one count of supplying three wraps of crack cocaine, one count of supplying five wraps of diamorphine and one count of possession/acquired or use of criminal property, namely a quantity of cash.

While Lawrence, of Bridge Road, was charged with one count of supplying cocaine, one count of supplying a quantity of diamorphine, possession of a quantity of crack cocaine with intent to supply, one count of possession of diamorphine with intent to supply and possession/acquired or use of criminal property, namely a quantity of cash.

Both men were remanded to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today, April 5.

Lawrence was granted conditional bail while Kulasi will be held in custody until the trial at Ipswich Crown Court on May 3.

Det Insp Matt Adams: 'These two charges came about as a result of three months careful planning and preparation between January and March this year in terms by the East Scorpion team.

'We remain committed to disrupting drug activity in Lowestoft and across the rest of the county, and anyone found dealing in Class A drugs will be dealt with robustly.'
