Lowestoft's best and brightest students were rewarded for their outstanding hard work at a college's annual celebration of student achievement.
Earlier this year tutors were asked to nominate students who they believed had excelled in their courses at Lowestoft College.
Judges then had the difficult task of selecting the winners in each of the 18 categories, which included outstanding progression in maths and Englishm motor vehicle student of the year and apprentice of the year, to name only a few.
Lowestoft College principal Jo Pretty and Journal editor Andrew Papworth then had the tough job of selecting an overall winner.
But in the end it was 21-year-old Level Two welding and fabrication student Sam King who triumphed to be crowned student achiever of the year – a category sponsored by The Journal.
Speaking after winning the award, Mr King said: 'I'm surprised – I wasn't expecting it in the slightest.
'It was completely unexpected. I never thought in a million years I would get something like that. I am very pleased.'
Mr Papworth said: 'Sam and all the winners are fantastic examples of just what brilliant talent there is at Lowestoft College.
'These remarkable students have set a shining example of just what the next generation of students can achieve at the college.
'Judging by the award winners, the future of our great town is in very safe hands indeed.'
Ms Pretty said it was the 'highlight of every education professional's year' to 'celebrate the achievements of our students'.
