Man verbally abuses firefighters after they refused him a lift

An abusive member of the public smashed the window of a fire engine after they refused him a lift home.

Ben Horne, a firefighter from Lowestoft tweeted: “Disappointed to learn that work colleagues from Lowestoft South fire station were verbally abused and our fire engine damaged (while attending an incident) by an intoxicated member of public in the early hours of Saturday morning.”

Tweeting an image of the damaged fire engine, Mr Horne added that the abuse had come about after his colleagues “refused to give [the man] a lift home.”
