A 17-YEAR-OLD Lowestoft girl has admitted stealing jewellery from her mother and grandmother so she could buy alcohol and food.

The girl pleaded guilty at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to stealing a large neck chain and metal bracelet from her mother between August and November. The items were worth 900.

She also admitted stealing a yellow gold dress ring, earrings and gold watch from her grandmother between September and November.

The court heard that the girl, who can not be named for legal reasons, was drinking heavily at the time and needed money for alcohol or food. Her behaviour had now improved and she wanted to go on a tourism and travel course.

She was given a six-month supervision order with 90 days of activity.
