A COMMUNITY action group is calling on groups and organisations to come forward to take advantage of a pot of cash that is accessible for projects locally.

With 'money to give,' committee members from Lowestoft Together this week posed the question - who wants it?

For Lowestoft Together still has money in its coffers waiting to be awarded to organisations and people who have schemes and ideas that will make a difference to the town and the lives of its people.

However, locals are being urged to get their bids in quickly as time is running out - with Lowestoft Together ceasing to exist after the end of this financial year.

'The message is clear,' said Sue Henderson, chairman of Lowestoft Together, 'we have money to award.

'We need people and organisations with projects of benefit to our community to come forward now and put in bids for what we have left to spend. In the past three-and-a-half years we have awarded more than 3 million of Central Government money to projects that have directly benefited the town and its environs,' she added.

'For our remaining funds to remain unused and be thrown into the anonymous abyss of general public money would be a loss to the people of Lowestoft. We need those bids and we need them now.'

Bids to be considered by the next meeting of Lowestoft Together's next Appraisal Panel meeting need to be in by November 10, 2009.
