Lowestoft Lifeboat was called out just before 3.15pm today (Saturday) to go the the aid of the stranded vessel, which had broken down while fishing off the Suffolk coast.

Coastguard rescue officers from Lowestoft and Southwold were also called out.

Lowestoft lifeboat Coxswain John Fox said: “We launched our relief lifeboat RNLB Cosandra to go the aid of the boat, which was three miles east of Kessingland.

“On arrival the two man crew on board told us that they had travelled down the coast from Gorleston when the fan belt on their engine snapped, disabling the 10-metre long craft.

“We lifted their anchor for them and then connected a tow line and brought them into port, where they were met by HM Coastguard Rescue Team from Lowestoft.”
