A Lowestoft man accused of raping a teenager has admitted 'fancying' her and suggesting they should have sex.

Giving evidence during his trial at Ipswich Crown Court, Stephen Waters, 45, claimed the girl had been 'fine' with it.

'She didn't fight me. She was just lying there and told me to get on with it,' said Waters.

He told the court that he had tried to have sex with the girl but had been unable to.

Waters denied raping the girl and said he was shocked when he was arrested by police.

Waters, of Princes Road, Lowestoft, has denied three offences of rape and one of attempted rape and three alternative offences of sexual activity with a child and one alternative charge of attempted sexual activity with a child.

It has been alleged that Waters raped the girl after telling her that she was attractive and complimenting her on her figure.

Nneka Akudolu, prosecuting, said Waters told the girl he wanted to have sex with her and ignored her protests when she said she didn't want to.

She said the girl had hit Waters and 'put up a real fight' but he had got on top of her and held her arms while he allegedly forced himself on her.

The court heard that Waters was arrested in March last year and when questioned about the allegations he answered 'no comment' to questions put to him.

The trial continues today (Friday).
