A CARLTON Colville man who beat his wife "black and blue" and left her needing surgery on a fractured ankle has been jailed for 30 months.

Tony King's attack on his partner Tracy King in January was the latest in a series of assaults on her including one on their honeymoon, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

A CARLTON Colville man who beat his wife “black and blue” and left her needing surgery on a fractured ankle has been jailed for 30 months.

Tony King's attack on his partner Tracy King in January was the latest in a series of assaults on her including one on their honeymoon, Ipswich Crown Court was told.

Jailing King, Judge John Holt said that part of the attack was witnessed by a schoolboy who saw Mrs King lying unconscious with her face covered in blood and raised the alarm. “She was black and blue,” said the judge.

Mrs King's blood was later found on King's trainers and clothing.

Judge Holt said King had carried out previous assaults on Tracy King in 2005, 2006 and in 2007. On the last occasion he had been given a suspended sentence and had breached this by committing the latest assault on her.

King, 25, of Marsh Lane, admitted assaulting Tracy King causing actual bodily harm and was jailed for two years with six months to run consecutively for the breach of the suspended sentence.

Kate Stephenson, prosecuting, said the relationship between King and his wife had a lengthy history of domestic violence including him hitting her on their honeymoon.

On January 24 the couple had been discussing their relationship when King had lunged at her and repeatedly kicked and punched her on the head, face and body.

As a result of the attack Mrs King suffered bruising, a loose tooth and needed surgery to insert a plate and screws in a fractured ankle.

Jamie Sawyer, for King, said his behaviour on January 24 had been fuelled by alcohol.

He said that King had never been violent to anyone else and recognised that his relationship with Tracy King had never been healthy.

The couple were now getting divorced and he had a new partner who was pregnant.
