A museum that celebrates its town’s rich maritime history is on the hunt for a new secretary.
After eight years in the role, Lowestoft Maritime Museum’s current secretary Roy Hammond - who will remain as a committee member - is stepping down and handing over the baton to someone new.
The charitable organisation, based on Whapload Road, relies entirely on people giving up their spare time to sustain its operations and is open for the summer season from April to October. It recently received a boost following the recruitment of ten new volunteers.
Jim Aguss, chairman of the museum, said: “Maritime knowledge is not required for the role, but secretarial knowledge is. We’ll need the new secretary to attend all our meetings and to have good technology skills.
“The successful applicant will be expected to become a member of the society and get to know museum operations.”
Anyone interested in becoming the new secretary can contact Jim Aguss on 01502 569165.
