AT least seven vehicles were damaged after an air rifle was fired at passing cars in Lowestoft,

Vehicles, including a Honda, a BMW, a Vauxhall, a Kia, a Suzuki, a Citroen and a Ford, were targeted during the spree in Saltwater Way between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday night.

“Police were initially called just before 11.25pm by a driver who reported someone had fired an air rifle pellet at his Honda Civic as he was driving along the road towards Oulton Broad,” a police spokesman said. “He heard a bang and thought something had hit the car. He pulled over and inspected the vehicle and noticed there was damage to the drivers door.”

Police then took a number of similar reports from motorists who had been driving along Saltwater Way whose vehicles had sustained similar damage – mainly denting to doors.

• Anyone with information about those responsible is asked to call PC 1395 Davey on 01986 835300.
