REPAIRS to a popular promenade in Lowestoft are set to commence later this month.
'Waveney District Council would like to give advance notice of the temporary closure of Jubilee Promenade Lowestoft, due to essential repair work,' a council spokesman said today.
The council will be repairing the surface of the South Lowestoft 'Jubilee' Lower Promenade from the week commencing Monday, March 16 - and this work will last for approximately ten days.
'During this time, sections of the lower promenade from Claremont Pier to a point below St Mary's Primary School will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic for reasons of public safety,' the spokesman said.
It is intended that the promenade will be open over the weekend of March 21/22.
'The council is asking that people use the upper promenade or the beach if they visit the seafront and would like to thank residents and visitors for their co-operation during this time,' the spokesman added.
