The Great Global Greyhound Walk attracted 52 dogs to Pakefield on Sunday, June 11.

The purpose of the global event is to raise awareness for the suitability of retired racing greyhounds as pets.

It was the biggest walk yet with 3,678 sighthounds walking in the UK and 5,702 globally.

Rebecca Carr, organiser, said: “It was lovely to see so many familiar faces join us in Lowestoft and excellent to see many new walkers and their wonderful hounds.”

Miss Carr added: “They’re quiet, loyal dogs who, contrary to popular belief don’t require mountains of exercise.

“In fact, two 20 minute walks a day is enough to keep them healthy. We refer to them as 40mph couch potatoes.”

The walk will return for the sixth time on Sunday, June 10 2018.
