PUBLISHED: 13:08 28 September 2010

BURGLARS fled with a large amount of alcohol and cigarettes after breaking into a Lowestoft shop.

The shop at The Green was targeted between 9pm on Sunday (September 26) and 9.15am yesterday (Monday, September 27).

More than 40 cases of red, white and rose wine, 50 cases of 24 cans of beer and lager, 17 cases of cider and more than 150 packs of tobacco and cigarettes were taken along with packs of batteries.

“Police are asking anyone who was in the area overnight on Sunday and Monday to come forward if they noticed anything suspicious – particularly anyone moving the items or an unusual vehicle,” a police spokesman said.

“Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered alcohol, tobacco or cigarettes since.”

Anyone with information about the theft or the burglars should telephone PC 1753 Swinney at Lowestoft police station on 01986 835300.
