According to the latest figures released by the Department of Education, Lowestoft Sixth Form College is the best performing education provider for 16 to 18-year-olds in Suffolk.

Schools and colleges are ranked by their ‘progress scores’, which are calculated by comparing the A-level results of students at one school with those obtained by students at other schools who had similar results at the end of key stage 4.

Lowestoft Sixth Form scored a progress score of 0.39, making it the only Suffolk college to perform at a level that is classed as ‘well above average’.

In 2017, 80pc of students achieved A* to C grades, whilst the college saw a 100pc pass rate for A* to E grades.

“We are very proud of our students’ achievements in 2017,” said principal David Gartland. “This has been a result of their hard work and determination throughout their studies here at the College.

“These results are a credit to every member of staff who always go that extra mile to support our students in achieving their full potential. We are looking forward to another set of outstanding results this summer.”
