A filmmaker who used his experience of bullying as a source of inspiration for his debut film is embarking on another major project.

Fresh from completing his first feature-length film, Jack Spence has penned the script for 'Listen To Me' and is busy making preparations for the film's creation.

The finished product will serve as a direct sequel to 'Talk To Me', which successfully premiered at Lowestoft Sixth Form College in April.

Mr Spence, who studies film and media at the college, soon turned his attentions to a second venture and is again focussing on a range of hard-hitting topics including bullying and suicide.

"The first film was really well received," said Mr Spence, 19. "There were a few pieces of constructive criticism - mainly regarding the audio - but it's all a learning curve and overall the feedback was really positive.

"I originally developed ideas for five unconnected movies but, as I was writing 'Listen To Me', I realised it could tie in nicely with my first film.

"This next movie focuses on similar things to the last film, including darker social topics including depression, anxiety and suicide - all of which sadly manifest in the lives of young people these days."

Ahead of a week-long filming schedule in July, Mr Spence has recruited a team of seven actors and has been undertaking recces in various locations across Lowestoft.

He is now looking to raise around £1,000 to cover expenses including travel and accommodation for the cast and crew, the majority of whom are working for free.

With a debut already under his belt, Mr Spence is raring to go and can't wait to start work on the notoriously difficult second film.

"The first day of filming for 'Talk To Me' was completely and utterly stressful," added Mr Spence. "But as things progressed I really got into the swing of things and the same goes for the actors.

"At the moment we're just looking to raise as much as possible and anything we manage to get will be greatly appreciated.

"The script is written, we've got the filming dates, I've got permission - now I just want to get going!"
