FOUR youths attempted to rob an 18-year-old man as he walked through a Lowestoft alleyway.

Police are seeking witnesses after the teenager was assaulted in the Peddars Way area around 9.10pm on Monday.

The teenager had been walking in the park at the back of Montgomery Avenue heading towards Hollingsworth Road, and had passed two people walking a Boxer-type dog, when he became aware of the youths following behind him.

He sped up but was grabbed by the group in the alleyway leading to Peddars Court. After a brief verbal exchange, the four youths rummaged through his pockets and one attacked him.

The 18-year-old managed to push the youths away and ran back in the direction he had come from. He spoke with the people walking the dog, who went off to see if they could see the attackers.

The teenager then continued onto his girlfriend's home where the incident was reported to police. Nothing was stolen and the 18-year-old was uninjured.

Police are appealing for the people with the dog to come forward and are asking anyone with information about the attackers - who are all white men, in their late teens to early 20s, with one about 5ft 10ins- 5ft 11ins tall, of average build, wearing a dark hooded top and a scarf, two around 5ft 7ins tall wearing dark hooded tops and the fourth wearing a black and white hooded top and also around 5ft 7ins tall - to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
